check_netapp_disk stats path-error-rate

Monitors the calculated disk path error rate (failed I/O operations).

Usage

$ check_netapp_disk stats path-error-rate -H <host> [...] [--help]

Description

This plugin gets the path-error-count (failed iops) from the disk stats, sets this value in relation to the total iops and compares the resulting percentage to the thresholds.

Formula: path-error-rate = path-error-count / iops-total * 100

The path-error-rate check is still in beta as we do not have enough data to verify that the chosen formula gives valid and meaningful results. If you have any doubts, please contact us.

Important Parameters

--warning / --critical: To set the thresholds, the number is interpreted as a percentage.

--include / --exclude: Include or exclude disks based on their name. The node-name is pre-fixed to the disk-name so that you can filter also based on the node-name.

For all other parameters consult --help on the commandline.

Example

$ check_netapp_disk stats path-error-rate -H filer --warning=3 --critical=5
NETAPP DISK STATS PATH-ERROR-RATE CRITICAL - 36 disks checked, 1 CRITICAL, 1 WARNING
ueaff2.3.10.11: 48.3% (CRITICAL)
ueaff1.3.10.2: 4.7% (WARNING)
ueaff2.4.0.16: 0.0%

…

Checks all disks for their rate of failed I/O operations (path-error-count per iops-total). Warns if more than 3% are failed iops and exits critical if more than 5% are failed.
